AVATAR takes us to a spectacular world beyond imagination, where a reluctant hero embarks on an epic adventure, ultimately fighting to save the alien world he has learned to call home. James Cameron, the Oscar-winning director of Titanic, first conceived the film 15 years ago, when the means to realize his vision did not exist yet. Now, after four years of production, AVATAR, a live action film with a new generation of special effects, delivers a fully immersive cinematic experience of a new kind, where the revolutionary technology invented to make the film disappears into the emotion of the characters and the sweep of the story.

Cast

Directed and written by James Cameron. The acting cast consists of Australia's very own Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Michelle Rodriguez, Giovanni Ribisi and Joel David Moore. The cast as well as the widely famous director and writer James Cameron co-operate to display a gripping adventure and action film about a Man who has found a new home and must defend this home from the invaders from his previous life.

Plot Summary

On the lush alien world of Pandora live the Na'vi, beings who appear primitive but are highly evolved. Because the planet's environment is poisonous, human/Na'vi hybrids, called Avatars, must link to human minds to allow for free movement on Pandora. Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), a paralyzed former Marine, becomes mobile again through one such Avatar and falls in love with a Na'vi woman (Zoe Saldana). As a bond with her grows, he is drawn into a battle for the survival of her world.

Production Value

The budget for the film was $237 million USD, with it's release it made $2.788 billion in Box office Making it the highest box office and highest grossing film of all time. This film appeals largely to everyone as it displays a gripping film that has danger, action, adventure and romance, although to fit all these facets in it had to make the film length a full 2 hours and 58 minutes, a 3 hour film that is fit for any family to watch

Star Value

★★★★☆
I give Avatar (2009) a 4 out of 5, Although this film contains all the necessary aspects you'd hope for in a film, to commit to watching the whole movie you need to commit to 3 hours of watching the movie, time in which some people cannot commit to. Apart from the movies length Avatar has no flaws which can be seen as the film made over 2.788 billion at box office.
