George Lucas' classic that started a franchise that would last for generations, Star Wars, later renamed Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, is a classic film that has shaped popular culture as we know it today. It has created one of the biggest and well known film franchises that still continues today. It was a film that brought viewers to a world of adventure and exploration.

Cast

Directed by George Lucas with a cast consisting of Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, and David Prowse. They create an unforgettable and iconic story with characters that will be loved for generations to come.

Plot Summary

The Imperial Forces -- under orders from cruel Darth Vader (David Prowse) -- hold Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) hostage, in their efforts to quell the rebellion against the Galactic Empire. Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and Han Solo (Harrison Ford), captain of the Millennium Falcon, work together with the companionable droid duo R2-D2 (Kenny Baker) and C-3PO (Anthony Daniels) to rescue the beautiful princess, help the Rebel Alliance, and restore freedom and justice to the Galaxy.

Production Value

With only a budget of $11 million, Star Wars managed to make $775.4 million in the box office. It became one of the most popular movies of its time and created a franchise that would last generations.
