The Conjuring is a 2013 American Supernatural Horror movie. It is the first movie of a potential trilogy of movies, with the second being released in 2016. Paranormal Investigators visit a farmhouse after the family report increasing disturbing events.

Cast

Directed by James Wan and starring an array of cast members including; Partick Wilson, Vera Farmiga and Lili Taylor. Whilst perhaps not starring one of the more commonly known 'A-listers' of Hollywood, the cast combine to create a rather well rounded set of characters that allow us as the viewer to feel as though we are right there with them, which in turn makes the movie even scarier.

Plot Summary

After moving to a farmhouse with their 5 children, their family dog refuses to enter the house. All of the clocks in the house stop at 3:07am, and sadly the dog is found dead in the back yard. The family hear strange noises and when they go to investigate then become trapped by the spirit or demon within the house. After Demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren at called to help aid them of their terrors, one of the daughters becomes possessed. Can she be saved from the demon? Watch to find out!

Production Value

With a budget of $20million, 'The Conjuring' went on to make $318million at the Box Office. It was widely regarded as one of the most, successful and one of the best 'supernatural horror' movies of all time. The special effects within the movie are, to its credit exceptional.

Star Value
★★
Honestly I feel like I've seen countless 'Supernatural Horror'/ Demon Possession movies, and for me, this one doesn't stand out and do anything better than any of the others. Additionally I am not a massive fan of the 'hand-cam' style of movie making. For those reasons I am only scoring this movie 3/5 stars.
